Parents

I want to start off by telling you how truly excited I am to have your child in my English class this year! Senior year will be fun, challenging, and a great time of transition for both your child and you.

My goal is to prepare students for the world beyond high school, whatever that may look like for them. I want students to understand the discipline, time management, responsibility, and work ethic that will be required once they walk across that stage in June. I also want to lay a firm foundation for them in terms of vocabulary, reading, writing, note-taking, and study skills so that when they get to the next level, they are prepared to improve and think critically utilizing that base knowledge. Students will refine skills they have been taught throughout the rest of their schooling in preparation for college level coursework or professions they may choose to enter post-graduation.

During this transitional year, I will increasingly require students to exhibit more responsibility, accountability, and independent thought and work. I want them to leave my class feeling confident in their ability to overcome obstacles, discipline themselves to study, and rise to expectations of any professor and/or employer.

These are my goals, but I need your help to accomplish them! No one knows your child like you do, and I look forward to communicating with you and helping your child as they prepare for their next big venture in life. This site is a great resource for you and your child, and you are free to contact me by email or phone as necessary. Communication with you is a priority because I know you are the key to your student's success.

This is going to be a great year, and I look forward to it!
